Google Street View gives us an unprecedented ability to understand what spaces feel like on the ground (while providing the context of a map). Until now, college campuses have appeared as large holes in the Street View data. Over the past few months, Google bikes have been spotted traversing a number of college campus, and just this week, Google finally added their first campus to Street View: San Diego State University (SDSU).
It's worth taking a look because I think it captures the on-the ground campus experience better than any other technology I've seen. In fact, given that campuses are largely pedestrian spaces, I think this is the most successful use of Street View to date. After all, the panoramas emulate the experience of standing and looking, rather than driving.
For now, it seems as though Google has focused on the following campuses (in addition to SDSU): University of Pennsylvania & the University of San Diego. Hopefully these will be available soon and other campuses will follow in the not-too-distant future.

That is pretty great. I just used this a few days ago, and it runs smoothly. I know that the University of Phoenix is going to be the next one, and there are many to follow, and that adds a great advantage for people who are looking into schools.
Everyscape is another organization that is using panoramas to recreate the urban experience. They don't have much campus coverage, but they do seem to have higher quality coverage than Google of select urban areas (+ they let you go inside some buildings). There are a number of MA towns covered. Check out Johhny D's in Somerville: http://www.everyscape.com/somerville-ma.us.aspx?poi=2100395&p=908280
Here's a site that has been trying to achieve something similar http://www.yourcampus360.com/. Their coverage falls far short of the Google approach and there are only a handful of full 360 panoramas (whereas every view in Street View is a full 360 degree view).
One aspect they do cover that Google is unlikely to: they actually go inside some buildings (and some of their full 360 panoramas are of interior spaces).
They have coverage of these campuses: University of New Haven, Brandeis, Boston College, Columbia University Odyssey, Brandeis International Business School & Wellesley
