With our recent work at Lorain Community College and in the Massachusetts community colleges, this NY Times opinion piece caught my eye. The Stimulus package includes $12 billion plan aimed at producing 5 million more community college grads by 2020. The logic of the targeted funding appeals to me: an emphasis on education and a sector that has been long ignored. Mr. Brooks points out that the funds are not focused on new buildings (well, there's some money but not a lot); rather, the stimulus includes money for programs and innovation in teaching a diverse population.
